Preparing for an online consultation with The Possums Clinic
Thank you for making an appointment for an online consultation with one of our NDC accredited practitioners at The Possums Clinic.
Accessing the online consultation
Your confirmation and reminder emails will contain a link to access your video consultation via our clinic software.
This will work from most devices with a microphone/speakers as long as your software is up to date. If you require further information on our telehealth software, please visit https://help.cliniko.com/en/articles/3843932-telehealth-a-guide-for-patients
Please ensure both mother and baby are present for the consult.
When you click your appointment link, you will find yourself in the waiting room. Your practitioner will be with you as soon as possible.
Please note that as your online consultation is part of your practitioner’s clinical sessions, there may be a slight delay as with a face-to-face appointment in the clinic.
Preparing for a breastfeeding consultation
It is possible to have an effective breastfeeding online consultation without a support person, but we strongly recommend you have someone there to move the camera and help you with the baby.
Please sit in a two-seater (or bigger) couch, if at all possible, not in an office chair or breastfeeding chair.
A footstool, firm cushions for under your elbow, and a soft pillow for the small of your back will be very helpful.
To ensure we make the most of your appointment time, it would be helpful to have a WHO percentile chart from 0-6 months plotted with your baby’s weight gains (in kilograms) from birth ready to show your practitioner during the consultation.
Lots of people like to use the following app for this: https://growthchart.app/ or download a hardcopy from: https://www.who.int/toolkits/child-growth-standards/standards/weight-for-age . Choose Weight-for-age 0-6 months for the relevant gender.
After the consultation
You may wish to book a follow up consultation. Your practitioner may also need to contact your usual GP for any follow up required by your local provider.
